Meet Dr. Jessica DeLong, MD, FACS, our Chief Medical Officer

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Juniper Biomedical announced that Dr. Jessica DeLong , MD, FACS, has been appointed as the company’s new Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Dr. DeLong brings the incredible passion that she has cultivated over almost two decades of caring for patients. She brings both breadth and depth in her experience leading clinical research programs in Urology, many years of thought leadership as an academic researcher, and practitioner across a range of Urological conditions and patient types. We value what Dr. DeLong can provide through her contribution to insights in development, clinical study planning and execution, commercial strategy and beyond, all of which make her an excellent addition to our veteran leadership team. Dr. DeLong earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia in 2007 and was appointed to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and Spanish at the University of Virginia in 2003. Both her surgery internship and urology residency were completed at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. After graduating from her residency in 2013, she went on to complete her fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Reconstructive Urology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2014. She is an Associate Professor of Urology.

 

Dr. DeLong specializes in pelvic floor and genitourinary reconstruction, including urethral stricture, Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, male and female incontinence, female prolapse, and complicated urinary disorders. She is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA), Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS), Société Internationale d’Urologie (SIU), and Society of Women in Urology (SWIU). She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

 

She has published in several journals and texts regarding her work. She has presented her research extensively both at the national and international level. Dr. DeLong consults in both the Urology and Urogynecology spaces, helping companies in both biomedical device and pharmaceutical development.


Dr. DeLong is committed to work in resource-poor settings and is the President and Co-Founder of SAFE Surgery and Anesthesia For Everyone, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing access to surgical and anesthetic care. She co-founded the first Fellowship for Genitourinary reconstructive surgery in the Dominican Republic, which has graduated 3 fellows to-date and continues to train Dominican Urologists. Dr. DeLong is fluent in English and Spanish.
